THE FOUNDERS – BASIE GEERDTS

Basie felt pretty much the same way that Mandy felt after leaving Cotlands. All he wanted was to give Ashley a normal life. A life with all its ups and downs, heartache and pleasure and all the other things that normally happen in life. A life full of love and compassion, support and assistance, discipline and care and an extended range of family and friends.

Wouldn’t it be nice if all the other children could be offered the same opportunities? Wouldn’t it be nice if siblings who find themselves in care facilities don’t get separated because the eldest sibling is now six years old and has to be transferred to another institution. That some don’t have to sit there day after day waiting for the parents who dropped them off at Cotlands temporarily and never had any intention of coming back to pick them up.

There are so many children in this country who would do or say anything they could to make it possible for them to point to any adult and be able to say “That’s my mommy and/or daddy.” Wouldn’t it be incredible if all the people in the world unite in one dream: that there’ll be no more orphans in the world; no single child without a mom and/or a dad; no child separated from his/her siblings; no child beaten or abused or raped or killed; no child sold or trafficked; no child abandoned; no child starving to death; no child not getting education; not a single child not being loved and cared for. Wouldn’t that be incredible? We don’t think we’ll ever witness a day like that in our lifetime, but what a wonderful dream to aim for. Every child adopted or fostered will simply be one less child that we as a global community have to worry or cry about.

We pray day and night that all orphaned, abandoned and homeless children's dreams come to pass and that God’s will for them will completely be attended to.
