Timeless Dedication in a Changing World
TCV aims to place orphaned, abandoned and child-lead household children into environments where all children placed into a family home can simply be children – with no adult responsibilities – and be safe. A house where they will experience adult love and care and where all their spiritual, mental, physical, emotional and nutritional needs are met. A place where brothers and sisters will be raised together and where they can grow and leave the village to enter the world as well-nurtured young adults well equipped to make their own successfully independent ways.
TCV Schools will conform to the governmental educational curriculum but only as far as it remains beneficial to the learners, whereafter each individual child’s educational needs and requirements will be catered for. This also includes remedial education where needed. Teachers are to play a vitally important role in the development of children. TCV Schools will assist each child to reach their full potential holistically and give them an opportunity to follow their dreams and God-given talents and passions. Other sections in TCV Schools will also supply educations in areas like technical skills, culinary art and catering, hospitality and tourism, fashion, performing arts (dancing, music and drama), creative arts (fine art, sculpture, ceramics, industrial, interior and graphic design), financial management and social development. An agricultural development school will play a huge role in the self-sufficient goals of every village where all the nutritional requirements of each village will be met.
TCV Churches are to be congregations where the Lord our God and Father, His holy Son Christ Jesus and His Holy Spirit is to be worshiped and honoured. Where we will rejoice in our fellowship with Him, not only on Sundays but every day and daily surrender our individual wills to His will. Where we will take pride in not only being God’s ambassadors but also His warriors.
TCV Clinics, located in the Administration Centres, are to provide holistic health care to all residents living in the Thandi Children’s Villages which will cover medical and dental care, psychiatrical, psychological, speech and occupational therapy and counseling. TCVs will also provide basic health care for any neighbouring communities.
Mandela’s dream of a rainbow nation living in harmony together is to be truly represented by all TCVs. All people involved with TCVs, including volunteers from all races from around the world, will live together in these communities. Socio and economic barriers, and life with all its forms and challenges, will no longer have any bearing on any member who simply follows what is paced in his/her heart.
TCV Business, to follow the fine example set by LIV Business, is to be established to provide for the future where the village would become self-sustainable and ultimately become a yardstick for all other TCVs across Southern Africa, Africa and globally. All TCVs are to provide skills development for not only the villages themselves but also for the rural communities bordering the villages. The TCV model, again as with LIV Business, is about doing everything with excellence. If companies take the opportunity to be involved with TCVs, they will be partnering with TCVs that will bring about large scale changes, leaving a tremendous and continuous legacy of hope for future generations.
One of the most vital roles to be played in TCVs are to be played by volunteers. TCVs will provide opportunities for volunteers to spend time in the village while serving in different departments. We hope some of the young people who have grown up in TCVs will invest their skills and talent back into the TCVs themselves.
